Dad gave me a large encyclopaedia when I was a child. I was enchanted. It was huge, illustrated with magic in every page. An entire world of stories, mystery, history, imagination, graphics… I wrote him a letter (in Hebrew): “Dad, thank you for the Biblical Illustrated Encyclopaedia.”

Ten years ago, Dad died. So now, I say it again, in an AI song I made: “Dad, thank you for the Biblical Illustrated Encyclopaedia.”

Mum and dad divorced. Dad sat by the kitchen table. I was having breakfast, a simple sandwich. Suddenly, a big tear fell from his eye. I never saw dad cry. Not before, not after. “Take your time,” dad said, “no rush, there’s plenty of time.” But the car was waiting for us outside, taking mum and us kids to a different city.

Dad, you were not an easy man. But I will never forget your tears.  10 years now, RIP.

I spoke, but he did not believe me. I was 8 years old, looking up, speaking the truth. Yet, he was mocking me. An inner voice then said to me, “I know that you speak the truth, but don’t bother; he will not believe you.”

So, there we were. Grown ups right next to me, in real space, faces, names – but did not believe me. And inside me, an inner voice, with no face, no name, no space, no ego – but it knew me. It believed me.

My new song ‘You Didn’t Believe Me’ (in Hebrew).

Pulse Of The Night

Lyrics - click to open

We can feel the memory

The pulse of the night

We can dream the moment

The love of the light

In times of compassion

In times when the trees bow down

We lost the autumn

We closed our eyes

Do not spare a thought

Do not look up to the sun

Today there is more time

Than all the goodbyes

We can feel the memory

The pulse of the night

We can dream the moment

The love of the light

Every so often

A hero is born in our heart

A reluctant leader

A king for only one breath

The blood and the earth

The melody of the wonder

We are in between

But we define the borders

We can feel the memory

The pulse of the night

We can dream the moment

The love of the light

We can feel the memory

The pulse of the night

We can dream the moment

The love of the light

The Smartest Thing

My new song. Not sure it is a song… a ‘spoken word’ maybe?… Well, for sure it was a promise. You see, I walked my daughter to school one day, and then by the beautiful English trees, a message came to me: “The smartest thing I ever heard is the rustle of the leaves in the trees…”

And I promised.

I promised her I will turn it into a song. Because the rustle of the leaves has always called me. And may it call upon all children. Lyrics/Music – Gil Dekel. Performed by AI.

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees

The magic of the dawn
As night goes to sleep
Light blues, yellow
Time for spring

And the sky is resting lightly on the trees
Like feather
Like rain in the soil

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees

Sometimes logic does not make sense

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees

For three centuries
I remember the leaves
I dance their dance
Their call

The smartest thing
I ever heard

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees
Rustle
Rustle
Rustle

The smartest thing
I ever heard
Is the rustle of the leaves in the trees
Leaves
Leaves
Leaves

The Forest Came To Find Me

Lyrics - click to open

Veins of green
Life stands still
“For, my child” the tree commands
“Why search across the oceans
When your roots beneath your feet?”

I did not come
To find the forest
The forest came to find me here
It brought a songbird gift; I have accepted
It brought home back to me

Branches caress the sunlight,
Shadows held rain,
Have you seen a broken flower
That did not blossom once again?

I did not come
To find the forest
The forest came to find me here
It brought a songbird gift; I have accepted
It brought home back to me

I left my thoughts along the road
Worries play catch with the leaves
Memories beneath the darkness
Light, so gentle, in a brim
Dreams run free like careless child

I left my thoughts along the road
Worries play catch with the leaves
I am in the moment.

I did not come
The forest came to find me here
It brought a songbird gift; I have accepted
It brought home back to me

I came to love you

Lyrics - click to open

You came to this world
I came to this world

You came to love me
You came to breathe with me

And the earth dances for
Our moon
As our love holds us tight
Tight

Don’t fall to the myth
Of the past
Remember we are
Home
Home tonight

I came to love you
To breathe with you
Like everlasting words
Written in stone

So are we
Written in the heart of God

You came to love me
I came to love you
You came to breathe with me
I came to breathe with you

Written in the heart of God

You came to love me
I came to love you
You came to breathe with me
I came to breathe with you

I came to love you
To breathe with you
Like everlasting words
Written in stone

So are we
Written in the heart of God

You came to love me
I came to love you
You came to breathe with me
I came to breathe

You came to love me
I came to love you

When I Was Dreaming

Lyrics - click to open

When I was dreaming
Velvet and sweet cream
Memories in a can
Rattles on the ground

Walking towards earth
Flowers in our hands
Humans soon to be
Babies spirits be

When I was dreaming
Velvet and sweet cream
Memories in a can
Rattles on the ground

By the summer leaves
Do not frail now
Do not shut the light
As we bring tonight
Morning to arrive

When I was dreaming
Velvet and sweet cream
Memories in a can
Rattles on the ground

At once we open eyes
But minds are pebbles, stones
If a river flows tonight
Carving time and letting go

All we seek is what is here
All we sing is what we hear

When I was dreaming
Velvet and sweet cream
Memories in a can
Rattles on the ground

Million years, a heartbeat

Sleeping nations, cold within
Not once did the sun refuse
To kiss our skies
Our path
Our hopes

And if you see wisdom
Waiting by the trees
Set a moment
To lend an ear

Listen to the words of light
For truly they just recite
The glory of your heart
The sparkle in your eyes

When I was dreaming
Velvet and sweet cream
Memories in a can
Rattles on the ground
